    Sangre de Drago, 'Dragon's Blood'

    Wakingherbs is a family project established in Ecuador. We work from Ecuador and The Netherlands where they have an office and distribution centre.
    They plant, buy and distribute ethnobotanical plants and no-timber forest products from the different ecosystms of Ecuador, Brazil, Columbia, Perรบ and Bolivia.
    They plant more than they harvest, with fair-trade, sustainable standards.

    ''We have been working with Quechua people in Ecuador for years now. We planted many thousands of Caapi vines, Chacruna, Guayusa, Bobinsana and many more plants together with them. Always in so called forest gardens to stimulate biodiversity.''

    ''A few months ago Laura and Wouter had the chance to buy a piece of land in the area of Mindo, Ecuador in the cloud forest. This land is bordered by a river and by mountains. It has been used for agriculture the last 80 years. We have called it Reserva Munay. In Quechua this means: Love from the Heart.

    ''The Quechua people we work with from the Rio Napo area came to Reserva Munay many times. They brought loads of plants for us to give back to Pachamama. Reserva Munay brings up many ideas and dreams. Many of which will unfold during time. A maloka is being built right now, the foundation for a school is being set up and a brick house is nearly finished.''

    Bicarbonate of Soda - The bicarbonate Soda Company

    This sodium bicarbonate is harvested from deep underground, this is not your man made sodium bicarbonate using labor intensive chemical reactions.
    This is something altogether more natural and sustainable. Its been used for thousands of years.

    ''We believe in the importance of sustainability, from products to the green packaging and culture they try to set a standard for our self firstly and foremostly. Every one of us has their individual role to play if we are to succeed in making our planet a more sustainable and greener place.
    Unfortunately the majority of bicarb sold in the UK goes into the animal feed industry to supplement diets. As a Vegan company, we do not inherently oppose people who eat meat, because, well, mankind have done so for thousands of years. However they do oppose the sustainability and morality of factory farming practices and 10% of our yearly profits will be donated to charities including those which fight these causes. ''

    Ampulla (Glass Jar & alluminium lid Supplier)

     PCR products have been made using recycled material in part, so you can be sure that every product on Ampulla described as being ‘PCR’ is made up of at least 10% recycled material. This new initiative from this manufacturer is a big step into reducing plastic waste and the negative impact that it is having on our environment. We are proud that we will continue to add new product lines that are made using PCR material throughout the year to offer more choice to  customers and to do our bit for Planet Earth.

    Wherever possible, the post-consumer recycled plastic material that is used will be sourced from the UK, so that the carbon footprint generated in order to manufacture these new products is kept as small as possible. The PCR10 initiative is very warmly welcomed by Ampulla and all those who are increasingly aware of the impact that single use plastic is having on our planet. We do hope that manufacturers continue to innovate products and inspire consumers to make positive changes, and we here at Ampulla will continue to promote these efforts!

    If you think that this selection is paltry, don’t get too worried – many of our current HDPE and PET products will also be phased out and replaced with the new identical PCR10 models once the old stock has been used! Please do keep an eye out for information on PCR10 products in our product descriptions to see which products are part of this group.

    Why Is PCR10 An Important Step?

    • It encourages responsible plastic manufacturing;
    • It reduces plastic waste;
    • It gives greater choice to consumers;
    • It reduces your company’s carbon footprint.
